Nick Frater
Oh Contraire!
Think Like A Key Music
The latest from the veteran UK power pop singer/songwriter finds him sounding more like Squeeze than ever. If you like Difford and Tilbrook and wish there was something new from them, this very nicely fills that gap.
In the past, Frater’s writing was very cinematic, as it is here, but instead of a feature, this is like interconnected short films. Characters live out their relationships and lives. Droll, sophisticated, but never full of themselves, they take things as they come, and learn from everything.
As will you, if you listen to this and delight in it. It is wonderful, as mood music to fit a scene, or just good music that tells a story.
